Shannon Harris

Shannon stumbled upon the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band in the fourth grade. It was love on first listen. The vocal harmonies, diverse soundscapes and storytelling elements she heard first from the Beatles were the same core elements she sought in other music and would ultimately aspire to emulate in her own material.

A late bloomer as a musician, she started singing covers in her twenties and performed with working bands that played all over the spectrum of popular music: rock, pop, disco, R&B/soul, and funk. She contributed vocals and lyrics for several original music projects, but mainly stayed in the world of working bands doing covers until she met Tal Goettling in 2016. As an avid journaler, she became inspired to dust off her neglected guitar and determined to turn ideas and observations into songs. She began to write songs of her own, co-write with Tal, and Thirteen Finches was born.
